Biocides can be added to other materials (usually liquids) to protect them from infestation and growth by other organisms. For example, certain types of quaternary ammonium compounds "quats" are added to swimming pool water, or to industrial water systems as an algaecide, protecting the water from infestation and growing algae. Chlorine is also added to sewage treatment to kill microorganisms, algae, etc. Halogenin compounds are also used as insecticides.
A Biocide (also known as a biocide or biocide) is a chemical that kills living organisms, usually selectively. Biocides are commonly used in medicine, agriculture, forestry, and in industry in oil and water pipelines to prevent bacterial contamination. Chlorine is also used for antifouling or disinfection of swimming pools. In addition to chemical biocides, there are also natural pesticides that come from bacteria and plants, including kale, broccoli, and Botox.
